About Us
Rothern is a B2B sourcing marketplace that brings buyer and supplier companies together in one account. On Rothern, companies publish product showcases, post buying requests, collect sealed-bid quotes, negotiate, award, and follow the order through to delivery from a single panel.
What we do
Industrial purchasing still runs largely on email, phone and Excel: the buyer pulls the supplier list out of their own notebook, compares quotes by hand, and there is no single place showing who quoted what and when. Rothern moves this flow into one panel — from posting the request to delivering the order, every step lives on the same record, and who did what and when stays auditable.
On the supplier side the issue is visibility: a verified company listing its products can quote on a public request posted by a buyer that has never heard of it. Matching is built on a four-level international category tree and the activity types companies declare.
One account, both sides
A company is usually both a buyer and a seller. On Rothern a single company account opens both panels: on the buying side you post requests and collect quotes; on the sales side you quote on others' requests and manage your product showcase. What each team member can do on each side is set separately in a permission table; you can define a manager who only approves, a viewer who cannot quote, or a salesperson who works only on the sales side.
Our principles
- Sealed bids are really sealed.
- Bidders cannot see each other's quotes; not even the NUMBER of quotes is published. A “how many quotes” counter that makes competition visible is a pressure tool for driving prices down — so there isn't one.
- The buyer's identity belongs to the buyer.
- Public request pages do not show the buyer company's name: what you are looking for should not tell your competitors about your production plans. What is visible is attributes, not identity — city, country, industry, activity type.
- Being visible is free.
- Creating a profile, appearing in the directory and publishing products cost nothing; the platform is currently free of charge. Company verification brings priority, not visibility itself: ranking, unlimited products, documents and video, access to public requests.
- We don't make up numbers.
- We show nothing we haven't measured. Counters like “40 suppliers viewed this product” do not appear on the site unless there is a real measurement behind them; if a field is empty, it looks empty.
We do not intermediate trade
Using Rothern is currently free of charge. The platform does not intermediate the value of goods and services between companies and does not carry money; contracts and payments run directly between the parties. The payment steps on the order screen are a record of the notifications the parties make to each other.
Who can use it
Companies from every country can register, except the United States and countries under comprehensive sanctions (Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba). The document set depends on the country; verification is always done by a person, and there is no automatic approval path. For details, see the frequently asked questions and How it works pages.
